We recently wrapped up our 17th annual Young Brokers Conference and our first in-person event since 2019. Young brokers from across the province gathered in Niagara Falls to network, meet their peers, sharpen their skills and hear from some of the industry’s top executives. Since this was our first in-person event since 2019, we focused on reconnection and getting back into the in-person swing of things.
Here’s a peek into the jam packed days in the life of our delegates:
DAY 1:
The highlight of Day one was our Opening Night Party, which has been sponsored by Travelers Canada for the past 13 years. The evening provided young brokers with the opportunity to mix, mingle, network and interact with their fellow peers.
DAY 2:
Started with Breakfast & Live Music sponsored by CAA Insurance, Opening Remarks by our YBC President, Jennifer Savage, and a Breakfast Brief by our IBAO President, Joseph Carnevale. We followed this up with our Roundtable and Around the World Workshops. Those in attendance were coached through applying key learnings and building their own customized and actionable work plan, unpack hot topics and learn skills that they will be able to apply in their day-to-day lives.
After a quick break for lunch with some live music (just one of the many things everyone has missed these past few years), our Keynote Speaker, The 4 Year Olympian, Jeremiah Brown took the stage. Jeremiah shared his experience and struggle around what it took for him to achieve his goals and become one of the only Olympians ever to go from his parents’ couch to the Olympic podium in four years. He provided insights on working through uncertainty, forging self-leadership, leading others, defeating doubt, staying resilient, and building and inspiring team trust. “I loved the keynote—I had a tear in my eye and his story was so inspiring. I can’t wait to hit the ground running when I get back to the office on Monday!,” said YBC ‘er and first-time attendee.
Day two ended with the Tradeshow, Dinner & Hospitality Night sponsored by Economical Insurance. Delegates, sponsors and markets had a change to network amongst one another and interact with their peers. “Thank you to the entire IBAO team for hosting such an amazing event! Felt great connecting with colleagues in-person after so long. Really enjoyed the Hospitality Night. It was our privilege to be an exhibitor and sponsor. We can’t wait to see what the team has in store for the Convention,” said YBC Exhibitor and Sponsor.
DAY 3:
Day three and the finale of our 2022 YBC, brought the highly anticipated Senior Executive Panels which was moderated by, IBAO CEO, Colin Simpson and IBAO President, Joseph Carnevale. Key industry executives including Matthew Turack, President, CAA Insurance, Robin Joshua, President, Echelon Insurance, Kate Hogan, Interim Head of Broker Distribution, Gore Mutual, Louis Gagnon, CEO, Intact Insurance and Paul Stone, Vice President, Personal Insurance – Sales, Distribution & Marketing, Travelers joined the discussion on leadership and key industry trends.
