The DASH Report

Have you heard the news? The Insurance Bureau of Canada (IBC) is offering a new report to the industry called the Driver Automobile Search History (DASH). This report is an easy way to access information on an insurance applicant’s driving history and will compete in the market with the AutoPlus report. IBC has worked closely with an insurer advisory panel to bring to market a report that you can access slightly differently from how it is accessed today.

“For one, brokers will no longer have to select a carrier before pulling a report and charge the report to the carrier,” said James Fordham, IBC. “The DASH platform is designed to allow the broker to pull a report on its own behalf based on the consent obtained by the broker. The model established for costing the report enables us to avoid the cost-per-transaction model.”

DASH is expected to be live by the end of March and will be accessible to brokers through a familiar carrier sponsorship model. The process details are currently being finalized and will be made available to the industry once complete. The aim is to keep the process as simple as possible. From an accessibility standpoint, IBC offers access via their DASH Report Ordering Portal and has made API access available.

“Lots of opportunity exists for digital brokers as well as brokerage technology vendors going forward. A data response, as well as a PDF report return, are both available through the API,” said Fordham.

IBAO is working with IBC to deliver supporting training materials on DASH to brokers, including a user manual, FAQ’s, broker workflows & decision trees, and a training webinar.

IBAO will continue to share updates with brokers on the IBC project as it proceeds. Brokers are encouraged to refer to the landing page for the most current information available.
