IBAO Convention Goes Virtual

Norah Black—Director, Marketing & Communications, IBAO

What do you do when a global pandemic hits during your 100th year celebration, in-person events over 50 people aren’t possible and you have a membership of over 14,000 brokers?

You go virtual.

This year’s Convention isn’t replacing our 100th anniversary celebration, it’s adding to it. We now have an October 2021 event in Niagara Falls, with this nice new addition of a digital experience tacked on. Think of it as our 99.5th anniversary, no mask required.

We’re still planning the events you know and love like our CEO Panel, Insurer Town Halls and amazing keynotes—now viewable from the comfort of your home or office. We’re even planning a Virtual Tradeshow to bring the insurance community to your laptop.

We’ve invested in a platform that tracks session views and participation, meaning you’ll pick up RIBO credits while you network with Ontario’s brokers and insurance community.

But forget new outfits and lunch buffets—we can all pull off yoga pants and track suits like never before and indulge in homemade grilled cheese for breakfast and lunch without judgement.

For those wanting to get their faces out there, we encourage you to do so (read How to Network in a Virtual Environment), but for those more shy or perhaps participating in their first virtual event, cameras are optional and can be turned on or off at any time, including lots of ways to connect without having to wash your face.

We’ve simplified registration this year to share full event access with all IBAO Members who register—tune in when you can throughout the two-day event, balancing your own professional and personal schedules as needed. Accreditation will be granted for specific sessions you’re able to tune into.

And with your $25 registration supporting the Breakfast Club of Canada, together we’ll be helping feed the over 2 million children facing food insecurity every day.

We’re excited about moving virtually, and hope you are too. Register here to join us October 21–22.
