Deck the Halls | DIY Holiday Wreath
A great way to get into the holiday spirit is to get a little crafty and creative with your decorating. We’ve been so focused on the interior of our homes, it’s good to shift to the exterior, where welcoming your guests can start with something as simple as front door decor. Wreaths are an easy hallmark classic and simple embellishment that come in many different shapes, sizes and colours. Here’s one of our favourite DYI wreath crafts that can be wrapped up in about 30 minutes.
WHAT YOU NEED
  • Wire Hanger
  • Glue Gun
  • Christmas Ornament Balls – approximately 50
  • Garland Swag – your choice: ribbon, fir/pine branches, acorns
STEP 1 Bend your wire hanger into a circle the best you can, keeping the hook at the top intact for easy hanging.

STEP 2 Lightly glue the caps on the ornament to ensure they don’t pop off from the ornament as they’ll be strung rather tightly together—the strings/hooks for hanging aren’t required.

STEP 3 Untwist and open the top of the wire, but keep in mind we’ll need to twist it back together once we’re finished.

STEP 4 Start looping each ornament onto the wire hanger. Have a colour scheme and strategy in mind. As you continue to add, you can follow your design for balance. For example, add two larger ornaments, one sparkly then one matte, then one medium and one small, repeat. Angle the ornaments so that the wire isn’t showing through.

STEP 5 Once you have your wire hanger to your desired fullness, it can be twisted back together—you’ll likely need pliers to do this. To cover the space left at the top of the wreath you can glue a large ribbon or get creative with any other swag additions that’ll cover the rest of the top wire.
Time to ring in the holiday cheer!
